Six men who allegedly abducted and tortured a man to death were arrested in Benue State’s Lessel community, Ushongo LGA.

It was gathered that the man had been murdered by a lost goat after an oracle had said he had stolen it.

On Tuesday, February 23, the suspects were arrested.

Known as Ordue Akume, the youngest brother of the deceased reportedly complained to the youths in the village that his goat was missing. They wanted to find an oracle during the investigation, which indicated to them that the deceased was the one who stole the goat.

However, the deceased refuted the accusation, but in an attempt to ensure that the aforementioned goat was admitted and returned, the perpetrators continued with all kinds of abuse amid appeals from neighbors and passers-by to stop the torture.

As it became apparent to them that he was unlikely to survive, he was moved and abandoned in a private clinic, where he died.
