A solar power station was reportedly set on fire by herdsmen in Awowo, Ewekoro Local Government Region of Ogun State.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, according to DAILY POST, creating misunderstanding among community members and residents of Abeokuta.
A post that emerged on Tuesday night on social media reported that Awowo was “attacked” by herders who wanted to set the village on fire.
In Ogun, this caused stress, given the area’s proximity to Abeokuta, the state capital.
Yet, Oba AbdulGafar Olasukanmi Tijani, Alawowo of Awowo, said the village had not been targeted by herdsmen.
To DAILY POST, Oba Tijani stated that it was accurate that Fulani cattle rearers has burned down a solar power plant worth £ 15,000, which he set up in his village.
The traditional ruler, however, said that it was not an attempt, but an accident by reckless rearers of cattle who set fire to the bush and caused the fire to get out of hand.
The monarch remembered that when some individuals were abducted by alleged herdsmen, his town was targeted in December.
“We haven’t been targeted. They became negligent cattle rearers. They had no fodder for their animals, so they set the brush on fire; and you know the harmattan is there, so that they do not contain the fire. This is what occurred. Not like we’re being targeted.
