President Muhammadu Buhari has confirmed that his government would not re-dose, while pledging to reduce the country’s high poverty rate.
When talking at a meeting with the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) in Abia, he made this known.
In a statement by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu after the Council meeting, which was also attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Buhari said the country needs a plan for poverty reduction that will contribute to “rapid, sustainable, inclusive and rapid economic growth.”
“I was shocked to hear from you that only two per cent of the vast agricultural land resources available to the nation are irrigated,” Bhuari said.
“We are trying to make the most use of the ground. Thank you for helping us shake up. We are awake now; we’re not going to doze off again. We didn’t just bump into this; we know that we should deliver on something.
This sounds good
